MASS MARRIAGE PROGRAMME ORGANISED IN ASSAM

GUWAHATI- 9 FEBRUARY 2016:

A Mass Marriage Programme has successfully been organised on 9thFebruary 2016 by Human Welfare Foundation, New Delhi at JIH Campus, Beltoli, Bilasipara in the Dhubri district of Assam where the marriage of as many as 51 pairs of brides and bridegrooms were performed in a very meaningful way. A daylong various types of events were organised by the host organization. The Sermon Meeting conducted on the occasion was presided over by Dr. Makbul Hussain Khan, Former Principal, Mandia Anchalik College, Barpeta; Mr. P.A. Fasal and Mr. Lateef Kaloor participated the Programme from Kerela as Chief Guest while Mr. Zahoor Ahmed, Head Social Welfare Dept., HWF attended the programme. Amongst the other dignitaries participated in the programme were Mr. Jahangir Hussain, District Programme Officer Sarba Siksha Abhijan, Kokrajhar; Omar Ali Ahmed, Secretary, Social Service Department, JIH, Assam; Prof. Johurul Islam Mollah, Secretary, Tarbiyat, JIH, Assam, Abdul Jalil, Councellor, IDB; Mrs. Zahida Islam Mollah, incharge, Women Halqa JIH, Assam and many others. The ‘Nikah’ was performed by Maulana Shams Ahmed, Maulana Jaber Hussain and Qari Maulana Abdus Samad while the Khutbah e Nikah was given by Maulana Moinul Hoque. Marriage Certificate will be issued by Dhubri Sadar Qazi, Maulana Jaber Hussain sahib.

The Bridegrooms hailed from the Bodoland riot affected area were given the marriage ritual attires, and cash money to bear the expenses relating to the marriage. Moreover, Sewing Machines were given to each couple on that day and declaration has been made to give 3 months Tailoring Training to the brides, so that they can earn their necessary livelihood. The programme was followed by a Dawat-e-walimah where as many as 1500 people participated.

 Dr. Dewan Nazrul Qadir, Regional Coordinator, HWF was the main coordinator of the programme while Saiful Islam Falahi, Convenor, Assam Relief Works and Shahidul Islam, Assistant Coordinator, HWF, Assam were the main pulse to make the programme a success.
