Razia Begum wept in despair; Vision gives her a new life

New Delhi (07/08/2020): The tragic Delhi riots left many lives and livelihoods in a complete darkness. Hundreds of families did not know where to go and what to do. An entire locality was set on fire by rioters in Khajuri Khas area of North East Delhi. Razia Begum’s house was among the hundreds of houses in the area which were completely torched. She was living in Khajuri Khas with her 5 children in an old house. Begum's husband died in 2012. After his death, her brothers built a small house for her and a few rooms upstairs for rent so that she could find a living.

In February, when the riots broke out in Delhi, the rioters set Begum's entire house aflame. Looking at her burnt house, Begum wept in despair. She could not figure out where to go, how to protect her children and feed them. In that hour of extreme grief, Vision 2026 came forward and extended hands to help her. Vision not only rebuilt Begum's house but also reconstructed the rooms for rent so that she can make her livelihood again. Vision has been working for riot affected families by reconstructing burnt houses, rebuilding damaged commercial spaces, providing livelihood means, and helping widows and orphans.
